After two weeks working at two plein air painting events in the Apalachicola area, Joan Vienot has returned to her home in Point Washington in South Walton for some much needed rest. The first week she served on the team of coordinators for Plein Air South where nationally-recognized professional artists demonstrate and teach various facets of plein air painting, composition, and technique. The second week, she again served as a Florida’s Finest en Plein Air Ambassador for the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air invitational paint-out. Ambassadors are tasked with teaching 2-hour introductory plein air painting lessons to individual artists, one-on-one, 3 different people per day, for 5 days in a row. She says she finds teaching the most rewarding facet of being an artist.

While in the Apalachicola area, she managed to paint four “small works”, en plein air, which were purchased when displayed at the event at the end of the second week. Two are pictured here, “Day Is Done”, and “John Gorrie Bridge”, both 6×8 oils on linen panel.
