October 1 – November 11: Pensacola Area Annual Plein Air Event Entries Exhibition
The Dragonfly Gallery is presenting an exhibition of the entry paintings for the 2016 Bagdad-Milton Plein Air Paint-Out by 26 plein air painters; including winner of Best in Show Joan Vienot. The exhibit will be displayed at the Dragonfly Gallery in from October 1 to November 11, 2016. Call the gallery at (850) 981-1100 for more info.
October 14: Half-Day Joan Vienot Plein Air Painting Pre-Workshop
An optional half-day pre-workshop will help the painter decide how to choose a subject to paint en plein air, observing the changing light and shadow, practicing “thumbnail” sketching, and planning interesting compositions. This workshop will be at the Cultural Arts Alliance Bayou Arts Center from 8 am – noon.
October 15 – October 17: Joan Vienot Plein Air Painting Workshop
Painting “en plein air” is painting on-site, in open air. Joan Vienot will provide demonstration and instruction each morning, with individual assistance and mentoring in the afternoon as participants paint subjects of their own choosing. This workshop will provide new insight to accomplished painters, and courage for the beginner, with focus on simplification of subject matter, using value and intensity to create believable composition, and enhancement of color through temperature relationship. Joan will instruct in oil painting but all media are welcome. This workshop will be at the Cultural Arts Alliance Bayou Arts Center from 8 am – 4 pm.
