Plein air painting offers a fun way to quickly improve your skills in seeing and painting. Joan Vienot, winner of the 2016 Bagdad Milton Plein Air Paint-Out and the 2015 Lynn Haven Local Color Plein Air Festival Paint-Out, will present how to utilize shape-making to start a plein air painting in a way that will offer a high likelihood of success. Joan will show how to use recognizable shapes to make an interesting composition, will give tips and practice in thumbnail sketching using two and three values, and will demonstrate the initial layout of the composition using identifiable shapes. Joan will paint in oils, but the concepts also apply if using other media. This One-day workshop in Watersound Origins will immediately be followed by the two-day Flutterby festival and plein air paint-out at that same location.
